The PowerDNS team has just returned from a very successful Network X event in Paris, France. Over three days, international fixed-line and mobile operators outlined current challenges they are facing, providers presented their solutions, and analysts provided industry insights at the Porte des Versailles. The PowerDNS team all contributed to this, supported by a very visual meeting room and prominent banners across the venue, which made visitors aware of the need to shape a faster, safer and more secure internet together.
We really enjoyed the numerous planned discussions and spontaneous chats with visitors to our meeting room. One of our highlights was definitely the announcement of the soon-to-be-available security add-on DNSdist Defender, which protects subscribers from malicious activities and makes things easier for customers, with a simplified setup and deployment of security scripts and rules. It also dynamically blocks DDoS attacks and detects and mitigates DNS tunneling activities. Stay tuned for more updates on DNSdist Defender in the next weeks!
Version 3.0 of our cloud-native deployment solution Cloud Control, which launched shortly before Network X, was also a popular topic of conversation. Cloud Control 3.0 provides a cloud-native deployment option for DNS-based security to protect all subscribers and connected devices against malware, phishing, DNS tunneling, botnet and DDoS attacks, as well as other malicious activities. This release therefore touched a nerve for operators who are currently busy switching to cloud-native and are faced with the daily challenge of keeping their users – who see their internet providers as responsible for their online safety – secure from all possible dangers.
Other topics that were discussed during meetings at the show include:
DNS for 5G & Edge deployments: How PowerDNS maximizes 5G network speed and helps overcome a DNS latency bottleneck. We discussed detailed technical questions around our fully cloud-native stack and how we support 5G use cases, such as UE (Edge) DNS, Infrastructure DNS and GSLB DNS.
Regional DNS for Fiber rollouts: Analysts at the event predicted that by 2028, fiber will dominate 77% of the world’s fixed broadband subscriptions. PowerDNS' cloud-native recursive DNS services push DNS deployments to regional PoPs, closer to subscribers, and therefore support the path to a successful high-performance fiber rollout.
Securing subscribers in our hyperconnected world: DNS is the most scalable and cost-effective way of providing network-based security. Our guests confirmed the reliability and unique scalability of DNS for malware filtering, parental controls, encrypted DNS and protection on CPE.
Infrastructure DNS for operators and enterprises: Our new Infrastructure DNS solutions enhance operator and enterprise networks with all the DNS services they require. Discussions looked at how PowerDNS provides application instances in the network core with fast, scalable and highly available DNS services, both recursive and authoritative.
We would like to thank the organizers of Network X for another excellent event. We would also like to thank all our guests for their valuable feedback on our solutions and suggestions on how we can continue to evolve our products and stay ahead of future challenges. It’s great to find out how PowerDNS continues to support you in meeting your daily challenges.
If you were unable to attend Network X but are interested in discussing our solutions, let us know and we can arrange a conversation once everyone has settled down again.
