PowerDNS is pleased to announce that our cloud-native deployment solution, PowerDNS Cloud Control, has successfully completed the VMware Ready for Telco Cloud Certification Program.

The Broadcom VMware certification program helps telecommunications service providers and network operators ensure the interoperability and optimization of applications and network functions on the VMware Telco Cloud platform. The validation that Cloud Control is ready for deployment and lifecycle operations through VMware Telco Cloud Automation was conducted in the Ready for Telco Cloud lab on VMware premises.

PowerDNS Cloud Control underwent rigorous testing, and VMware has certified that our solution integrates seamlessly with the VMware infrastructure. Cloud Control meets the specific requirements of operators on DNS, including low latency, high availability, and scalability, even in a cloud-native environment. This ensures a smoother transition to 5G and modern network architectures.

This is not new for PowerDNS, as delivering a reliable DNS solution with very high performance is a minimum expectation of our customers. Additionally, as pioneers in cloud-native DNS, we have been developing dedicated solutions for cloud-native environments for several years. It is gratifying to see this philosophy recognized not only by our customers but also by partners like VMware.

In particular, PowerDNS Cloud Control is now certified with the following components from VMware Telco Cloud Platform - 5G Edition 4.0:

  • VMware ESXi v8.0 U2b
  • VMware vCenter Server Appliance v8.0.2 U2c
  • VMware NSX v4.1.2.1
  • VMware Telco Cloud Automation v3.1
  • VMware Aria Automation Orchestrator (formerly vRealize Orchestrator) v8.16.1
  • VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid v2.5
  • Kubernetes v1.28.4+vmware.1
  • Harbor v2.9.1
  • AVI Controller v22.1.6 & AKO v1.11.3

Since Cloud Control has already been successfully tested on the VMware platform, the certification reduces the time required for further testing and integration. Therefore, the certification means rapid availability for operators. That this is not just true in theory is demonstrated by a current deployment project, where one of our customers is implementing PowerDNS Cloud Control on VMware Telco Cloud Platform 5.0.

Moreover, VMware’s certification reaffirms the high security and performance standards that we at PowerDNS set for our products—standards that are absolutely essential in Telco environments.

We would like to thank Broadcom VMware for the excellent collaboration during the testing phase, and we are excited to offer this additional service to our customers.
