We are proud to announce the first release candidate of PowerDNS Recursor 5.3.0!

Compared to the latest 5.2 release, this release candidate includes the following changes:

- Recursor can now generate OpenTelemetry trace data, exported via the existing Protobuf stream. See the [documentation.](https://docs.powerdns.com/recursor/performance.html#opentelemetry-traces)
- The embedded webserver used to display the status page and process REST API calls has been rewritten in Rust and supports multiple listen addresses and TLS.
- Primitives were added to [read and write](https://docs.powerdns.com/recursor/lua-scripting/functions.html#putIntoNSSpeedTable) the table used to record measured speeds of authoritative servers.
- The meson build system is now fully supported and used to build the published packages. We encourage third-party packagers to switch to meson, as the auto-tools based build infrastructure will be removed in the future.
- We now include packages for Enterprise Linux (RHEL and derivatives) 10 derived systems for the amd64 and arm64 platforms.

As always, there are also many smaller bug fixes and improvements, please refer to the [changelog](https://doc.powerdns.com/recursor/changelog/5.3.html#change-5.3.0-rc11) for additional details. When upgrading do not forget to check the [upgrade guide](https://docs.powerdns.com/recursor/upgrade.html).

Please send us all feedback and issues you might have via the [mailing list](https://mailman.powerdns.com/mailman/listinfo/pdns-users), or in case of a bug, via [GitHub](https://github.com/PowerDNS/pdns/issues/new/choose).

The [tarball](https://downloads.powerdns.com/releases/pdns-recursor-5.3.0-rc1.tar.xz) ([signature](https://downloads.powerdns.com/releases/pdns-recursor-5.3.0-rc1.tar.xz.sig)) is available from our download [server](https://downloads.powerdns.com/releases/) and packages for several distributions are available from our [repository](https://repo.powerdns.com/).

Older release trains are supported for one year after the following major release. Consult the EOL [policy](https://docs.powerdns.com/recursor/appendices/EOL.html) for more details.

We are grateful to the PowerDNS community for the reporting of bugs, issues, feature requests, and especially to the submitters of fixes and implementations of features.
